  the towel doesn’t slip on the mat but my hands still slip on on the towel. I was looking for something that would help my hands to not slip on my yoga mat.

  It does help to avoid slipping a little, but not 100%. The texture of the side that goes upwards could be thicker to help resistance.

  During more vigorous sessions my hands would get wet and become slippery. This became a problem when I couldn’t stay in down-dog without sliding off the top of my mat. After I starting using this product, I no longer had that problem. I still occasionally will slid a bit but it has reduced this problem 90-95%.

  this is a great item if you have trouble with your hands slipping in downdog. I have tried many other items and this is the only one that works for me.

  I bought the mat because I had heard that they were strong and non-slippery. They are both. So far, I really like it. I feel it is worth the extra $s.

  This is a great mat and I am sure I will use it for a long time to come. I love the color (Acai) and I have read other reviews raving about the appearance of the mat which I have to say is true. Be prepared to do some work to get this mat to be usable when you buy it. It took 3 weeks for me to be able to use mine because of the strong smell it arrives with. I understand that because of the natural rubber material it needs to air out but be prepared to wash your mat several times so that you are not disappointed. I followed the directions and alternated washing it with organic soap and organic apple cider. I am not sure which one worked more but I think they both helped. After washing it you will want to let it air try out. It is much better now but when it first arrived my husband and I could smell it from different parts of the house and he still comments on how he can still smell it from different rooms and on me after I do yoga. Overall a great product but BE PREPARED FOR THE SMELL!

  I love the manduka 5mm mat. Athough it is a bit heavy, the mat is very comfortable and slip resistant. As for the smell, it totally goes away after airing it out. I have the ember color and its very pretty. I also have the hugger mugger harness strap for it and it works great for this mat.

  After being advised to spend the money on a good quality natural rubber mat, I purchased this. If you are practicing any kind of hot yoga, or are a person who sweats more than others, this is NOT the mat for you. It is hopelessly slippery, even with a yogitoes, as the texture is smooth and does not grip the towel at all. This mat ruined a few classes for me, and I am still looking for a good quality mat that is sticky enough for me to sweat through my class and maintain contact with my mat. I’m currently using the rental mats at my studio. It’s a bummer that I wasted so much money on a mat that is useless to my hot practice.

  Since I started taking prenatal yoga classes, I didn’t really want to use the ones provided at the studio. Everyone’s feet and sweat… yah, I’m a little germaphobic. I looked at different yoga mats and decided that I wanted an eco-friendly mat that wasn’t slippery (don’t really want to land on the little one I’m carrying).br /br /I bought the coral color mat and love it. It’s thick enough for me. It is big but, I bought a green Indian Peacock Barefoot Yoga bag and carry it to and from class easily.br /br /It does have a strong rubbery scent which goes away after a few uses. Other than that, this mat is awesome.

  looks pretty and really sticky. br /br /you can focus on yourself fully in a hot room.

  I think they should make these built into the mat itself. I would recommend to anyone, regardless of their experience or frequency of practicing yoga. I hate laying on my mat not knowing which side I put down on the floor the previous practice, so the towel makes it easier to stay clean.

  I have a regular yoga practice–both hot (Bikram) and non-hot (Iyengar, Ashtanga) and I bought this towel to use for both classes. This towel is truly wonderful for non-hot yoga–I no longer slide all over the yoga mat in down dog or triangle. However, it’s not as effective for hot yoga. It works great during standing hot yoga poses, but once you’re doing the floor series, the grippy dots on the underside of the towel actually cause it to slide around as you change floor poses. I’ve just learned to not flop around like a fish quite so much as I move between poses :-).br /br /All that said, I wouldn’t give up this towel for anything–it is superior to just using a regular towel. It covers the whole mat, it’s very soft and absorbent–almost like a thin terrycloth–and perfect for non-hot yoga. Be sure to read the label and follow the initial washing instructions as the towel will continue to bleed color even after the first few washings. br /br /One last thought–I bought the towel in yellow because it was the cheapest color on Amazon–if you’re worried about it being obnoxiously bright like I was, it isn’t. Save yourself the $15 and get the yellow. Yoga isn’t meant to be fashion show anyway (as I tell myself when I want to buy a new cute yoga top!). Namaste.

  I have only used the towel once so far, but it worked great. The only time it moved was when we “flipped the dog” and I had to swing my leg over from being in downward dog into upward bow, or wheel pose. See http://www.yogajournal.com/poses/473 for a pic.br /br /The towel is very soft and big enough to cover my mat. I also love the dot in the middle/top of the mat. When I press down to the ground in the vinyasa flow, I dropped down straight toward the dot.br /br /Love the yellow color, too! Haven’t washed it yet, but I don’t care about washing it separately the first couple of times. We have a clothesline, so I’ll probably dry it outside.

  I purchased the yoga towel for my granddaughters birthday she really likes it. She is very satisfied with the way it works the way it washes up. br /I am disappointed in the ordering method used by Amazon though. I will think twice before I order from Amazon again.I got stuck with shipping charges Amazon will not credit me for the charges. Too bad as I was consdering ordering another towel. Oh well.

  I’ve practised on the Black Purple Lite mats and this mat is right up there with the rest of them. The Black mat’s too heavy for me as I travel frequently, and I find even the Purple Lite too heavy for shorter trips like hauling to from the yoga studio. This Eko Lite’s great for transporting/ travelling but still retains its heavy feel.br /br /After a week of practice I can safely say it doesn’t buckle like the other thin 3mm mats do. It sometimes looks as if the mat is uneven and doesn’t sit flat on the floor smoothly, but when you’re practicing you don’t even feel it - it feels like a flat and solid mat. I practice in a heated room and after warming up, you do need a towel or yogitoes coz it gets slippery when wet (like most other rubber/ PVC mats too). But it grips well when doing a regular not-too-sweaty practice. br /br /While researching this mat I couldn’t find more close-up shots of what it looks like up-close, so I’ve taken some pictures here: http://skippettystreet.blogspot.com/2008/08/eko-lite-where-have-you-been-all-my.htmlbr /br /Overall, a highly recommended product, especially if weight is a consideration.

  I bought this mat because I needed more padding for my joints than my current one was giving. The padding is sufficient, though someone with actual joint issues would definitely need the 5mm. It’s also light enough to carry around.br /br /The smell was not a problem for me at all. I left it out for only one day and the smell was already reduced, but then again I kind of like that natural rubber smell - I know I am in the minority.br /br /According to the Manduka website you are NOT supposed to leave this mat out in the sun or expose it to any sort of extreme weather. It is made so that it will easily bio-degrade and these things will encourage the mat to deteriorate faster. I don’t recommend leaving this in your car, trunk, out on your balcony, etc.br /br /The only issue I have with this mat, is that even if I am sweating a little bit, my hands tend to slip. I understand that this will eventually correct itself, but I don’t see it as being a major issue.br /

  I got the Manduka eKO Lite for two reasons: (1) it’s environment-friendly, and (2) I need a good-if-not-great mat for travel. For the first part, I just have to believe the guys at Manduka. Indeed, this yoga mat is light enough and thin enough that I can easily stash it in my mat bag along with a towel and other essentials.br /br /When I first received the mat, I liked the exterior, because the sheen and the “zebra” stripes look pretty cool. The smell was not great, so I did air it out and washed it as well. The first time I used it was on top of a black studio mat, during an Ashtanga class. I found that the rubber was more sticky than the black studio mat, but I felt that it was too thin to be used alone on a wooden surface. When I started sweating, it didn’t really lose grip, but the sweat drops were “absorbed” and made visible blotches on the mat. I could really see which parts come in contact most with sweat, so I used a towel on it as I usually do.br /br /I am just worried that I could not bring ONLY this mat along when I travel and practice in other places. Hopefully, there will be studio mats available to place this one on.

  i like the idea of being eco friendly but for me this mat is too thin. also it’s texture is too slippery for hot yoga in my opinion.br /mike
